Food fortification is the most cost-effective way to end one of the world's most devastating problems. Every penny of support counts, since it costs as low as $0.55 per year to provide one more person with lifesaving nutrients.

Our vision is that every meal, consumed by every mother and child, contains lifesaving nutrients, forever.

Using Smart Technology to End Malnutrition in Africa

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Technology can reach thousands. Smart technology reaches millions.

Our IoT-enabled Dosifier machine adds precise amounts of critical nutrients to flour, eliminating human error. Sanku monitors millers' use of the Dosifier remotely via the machine's cellular link and visits mills if a Dosifier needs repair, as well as to restock the millers' nutrients and empty flour bags.

OUR BUSINESS

We are a non-profit social enterprise

Our primary goal is not to make money, but rather to give children and adults access to food that is fortified with essential vitamins and minerals. Therefore, we lend our dosing machines free of charge to small and medium millers in East Africa.

Sanku offsets the cost of the millers' nutrients by bulk buying empty flour bags, which we then sell to our partner millers to pack their flour. The margins from each flour bag sale are enough to offset the cost of the millers' nutrients, and at scale, they will ensure that we achieve operational sustainability.

8,000 children die every day due to malnutrition.
